Happy Friday! I got so many comments for last week’s teaser on “Swiss Cheese of Decision Making”. Will highlight just a few that made me ponder 🤔:
“Is “alignment” also quietly synonymous with lack of confidence in their own leadership?”
“'design' a cheese that's fit for YOUR organization”
“Is poking holes in the cheese a bad thing? Frustrating maybe. But just because a decision is made one day doesn’t mean that it’s right.”
Today I thought about providing even more context for the book, but also my view on why individuals like me enter the pharmaceutical industry.. Well will only speak for myself 😂
“Hope. Curiosity and some courage. But mostly hope… grounded in the promise of science. Thats what ultimately brought me into pharma.
I won’t lie to you: it was also exciting to do something different.. to be inside a pharmaceutical giant… To understand how it works, but more importantly how it doesn’t and what is preventing an amazing industry with amazing people to pivot the notoriously proven but antiquated business model.
I have met an astounding number of individuals around the world, who get up every single morning with that same hope, curiosity and drive .. to help patients and health consumers around the world with life saving therapies. ”
If you are inside a pharmaceutical, let me know why? (well aside from “it pays the bills”.. 💸
Till Next Week,
