Happy Friday! We finally made it to sunny Barcelona, Spain, making it our new family home and didn’t even realize last Friday that it was a Friday. By the time I did ….. it was too late. So I thought no-one will notice, but… 14 of you sent me some form of a message about missing the update 😱 🙏 - hmm, now i know at least 14 of you will actually buy the book. 😂😂😂😂 Well… enough with excuses!
From the previous post on Traction or Distraction, i want to pick out one interesting response:
Do digital projects ever really get the chance to measure traction in an objective, metric driven way? Or is traction more often than not subjectively measured and always on a knife edge of cancellation if some shiny buzzword appears?
The above comment on “digital projects” brings me to today’s teaser of a chapter on “Budget, Bodies & Brains”. I always ask different stakeholders what does “digital transformation” actually mean to them and have always gotten dozens of different responses (which I will save for the actual book). What I did find interesting is that many individuals only care about their own projects and just getting either Budget, Bodies or Brains:
Budget
“Yes, digital transformation is _________ but we have a great project _______ within my team that really pushes our company forward. Given your central budget and the great impact, can you fund it?”
Bodies
“Yes, digital transformation is _________ but we have a great project _______ within my team that really pushes our company forward. Given you have such a great team could you assign someone to work with us?”
Brains
“Yes, digital transformation is _________ but we have a great project _______ within my team that really pushes our company forward. Given you have such a knowledgeable team in the area of _______, can you assign someone to work with us?”
One thing that any team needs to remember is that “If you try to be everything to everyone, you become nothing to no-one”
So what is your definition of digital transformation in pharma and what is your value proposition?
